Early in the first quarter, the Lions led 13-1, and never looked behind after. In Game 5 Senegal overcame Cape Verde 89:60 to continue their unbeaten run in this tournament. The 1st quarter saw both teams shooting well, and playing aggressive defense, in the end the Senegalese barely led 21:16. At the end of the second period the lead was 17 points, 39:22, while Cape Verde reduced to 44:49. With 10-0 run the Lions increased the lead and celebrated the victory. Malick Ndiaye (93) top-scored for the winners with 18 points and Mouhammad Faye (206-F-85) followed him with 17. In the last game Senegal outscored Mali 67:64 for the perfect record. Senegalese began the game very well, and with a good midrange address and their aggressiveness on both sides of the court, them led to the score almost during all the match. Mali played without their leader Amara Sy (202-F-81). Both Senegal and Mali will represent zone II in African games and Afrobasket.

Senegal improved to 3-0 record at the FIBA Africa Zone-II Qualifiers. The team handed Mali their first loss beating them 66:44. Senegal opened the game with 12:4 ion the opening tip and reached 19:9. The team never looked behind after and only increased the advantage. The board showed 31:17 after 15 minutes of the game, while the teams left the court for the break at 35:22. The lead continued to grow and Senegal reached 45:26 after the 25 minutes in the court. They held the same difference at 50:31 after three quarters. Moreover the result was plus 19 at 59:40 and Senegal added some more baskets for 66:44. It was the biggest lead in the game with 22 points difference. Moustapha Niang (206-F-83) and Mouhammad Faye (206-F-85) paced all the winners with 12 points each for the perfect record. Pape Badji and Gorgui Dieng (208-C) netted 9 points apiece to remain undefeated. Tankgara responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds in the losing effort as Mali dropped to 2-1 record. Amara Sy (202-F-81) notched 8, whilst Souleymane Maiga (176-G-87) added 6. In another game Cape Verde won their first game in the Zone II Tournament by defeating Guinea-Bissau national team, 87 to 66 in the third game of the final day of the first round of the competition.

Senegal opened Zone II qualifiers with two wins. Guinea Bissau and Senegal opened Zone II qualifiers as the campaign will last until August 18th. Senegal reached an easy 74:31 win.
Senegal started with 28-7 in the opening quarter and added 19-12 in the second period. The team dominated in the court and looked great in the first half. They limited the opponents to just 4 points in the third period producing 20-4. Guinea Bissau managed to win the last period 8-7 for the final result

The winners opened the game with 24-17 and added 20-16 in the second period. Senegal also won the third frame 21-12, while Cape Verde responded with 20-19 in the last frame. Gorgui Dieng top-scored for the winners with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Mouhammad Faye posted 16 and Ndiaye Abdoulaye notched 15. Ivan Almeida (198-G-89, college: Stonehill) answered with 25 points in the losing effort and Joel Almeida (195-F-85, college: Brockport St.) added 20.
