 | KBA Fines Players And Teams After Fight | |

THE Khomas Basketball Association (KBA) yesterday suspended and fined three basketball players and two clubs after a fight broke out during a league match played at Augustineum High School last weekend.
Civics player Eric Norman was suspended for the rest of the season and was fined N$300, while his counterpart from the UBC Rebels team, Nigel Mubita, was suspended for three league games and fined N$300.The two players were involved in a fight that eventually led to both team benches joining the free-for-all.
Mubita's brother, Moses, was suspended for the rest of the season as player, coach and manager and he also received a fine of N$300.
The three have been ordered to pay the fines on September 29, and are not allowed to attend any matches or take part in any other activities of the KBA during the period of their suspension.
In addition, both Civics and the UCB Rebels were fined N$500 for violating four league rules as set by the KBA.
The KBA said the fines had to be paid in cash, and if the teams and players did not pay up, they would all be suspended and all the points for games played during that time would be forfeited.
However, the KBA added that the teams could appeal according to article 42-48 of the Namibia Basketball Federation's regulations of 2006 |

| | | The Namibian under-20 men's coach Celentino Antonio thinks Namibia will do better than their eighth place in the 2004 Youth Games held in Mozambique.
Antonio was speaking to Nampa during his team's daily training session at the Independence Arena in Katutura on Wednesday.
Although Namibia ended second last in the first Zone Six Youth Games, the eventual winners Angola told him (Antonio) that Namibia was one of the fastest teams they have played during the competition in Maputo, said Antonio.
This year the Namibian men's team is much faster than the one in 2004 because they have had more time to train and their fitness level is better, he noted.
Said Antonio: 'I think we can perform better. We will not win (the competition) but I can see us winning a game or two.'
The team of 15 young men regrouped again on Sunday to continue where they left off from their first training camp in May.
According to Antonio his team is not very big, but what they lack in size, they make up in their speed and fitness.
However, Antonio said they could do with more time, saying the one training session per day is not enough.
Most of the players are still in school and he only practice with six boys, who do not attend school, in the morning.
At the moment he was teaching them the technical aspects of the game like improving their shots and lay-ups.
The first training camp in May mainly focused on fitness, he said.
Antonio added that three of the boys play for Khomas Association League teams, which helps with competition experience while one represented the country in Mozambique in 2004.
On the other hand, the women's coach Olga Hernandez was not too sure of her team's performance during the Youth Games.
Hernandez told Nampa that the time for training is not enough as she still need to teach the girls a lot.
Their fitness level is on standard but some are struggling to grasp the technique, she said.
Seven of her girls play in the Khomas League while four played in the Namibian team that ended fifth out of seven countries in Mozambique in 2004.
Namibia's boys will play against Angola in their first match of the competition on 27 June, while the girls will play against Zambia. |

In this match the result was as expected, thus no further comments to be added.
The best scorers for the Champs were Gloria H with 19 points followed by Conceicao N with 16 (1x3pt) and Izola A with 11.
Civics Suns vs Tomahawks MBA - 106 : 114
And the Civics Suns, the team that disappointed the most in this 2005 Season, takes the KBA Cup (And Flowers)!
The Suns played as if they had something to prove (because they had), after not making it to the palyoff finals and getting beaten by the Clear Essence Pretty Boys Katutura Titans for the bronze medal.
The T'Hawks had a good game but when the Suns started dunking (3 dunks in a role of which one was on T'Hawks' Luis A) there was nothing much they could do in the absence of their Head Coach W Kleine (who was replaced by G Weston for that night).
The best scorer for the T'Hawks was Freddy A with 31 points (3x3pt), followed by Paulo C with 22 (1x3pt) and Murere L with 16.
On the Suns side Mpume L had 38 points (4x3pt), followed by Lee-Heino R with 25 (4x3pt) and Eric N with 22. |

| | | The KBA Women Finals were played in a best of 3 games format and the Tomahawks WBA beat the Poly Dodgers in the first two games being crowned as the 2005 MTC Khomas League Champions (WOMEN).

On the other hand, The Tomahawks MBA faced the UBC Rebels where the Regional Champs wnet down in the first game of the series, coming back strong in the second match, forcing a third encounter.
In the third and last match between the two teams, the UBC Rebels were summoning Isak N (which wasn't present), and the Tomahawks MBA task was easier than ever, taking the lead in the first minute of the game.
The Tomahawks MBA are the 2005 MTC Khomas League Champions (MEN) and they did a good job making sure than their opponents knew it after beating the UBC Rebels by 32 points when the last whistle was blown!

| | | The 3rd Place match between the Civics Starzz and the WCE Flames was forfeited when the Flames walked out of the court with 2 min 58 sec left to the end and the score was 75 : 16 with the Starzz leading!
As for the 3rd place match men between the Civics Suns and the Clear Essence Pretty Boys Katutura Titans, the final result was not surprising as the Titans played like their name states, Titans, being awarded a victory that will grant them the Bronze medals.

The Suns' best scorer was Mpume H with 40 points (3x3pt) followed by Eric N (Junior) with 30 (3x3pt), while Coulson J & David S (Aakiti) had 11 points apiece.
As for the Clear Essence Squad, Corbin P had 29, Vivien R had 19 (4x3pt), while Paulus P (Omzak) (5x3pt) & Ruben I (3x3pt) had 15 points apiece.
NOTE: Collin I (Suns) was once again dunked and this time it was Patrick G (Titans) that commited adultery! |

| The KBA Playoffs Finals! | |

| | | The Tomahawks MBA defeated the Clear Essence Pretty Boys Katutura Titans in the only third match in the best of three (KBA) Semi-Finals.
The result was 108 : 94 on which the last basket was a dunk by T'Hawks' Paulo Cassanga on Ruben Iyambo AKA the Usual Suspect!
The Finals will take place at UNAM From Friday/Saturday/Sunday where the Poly Dodgers are to encounter the Tomahawks WBA while the UBC Rebels will encounter the Tomahawks MBA. |

The unexpected has happened, the Clear Essence Pretty Boys Katutura Titans beat the (Almost Undeafeated) Tomahawks in game 1, never letting this ones see the lead for the whole game. In game 2 the T'Hawks came back thrice as strong beating the Clear Essence Team by 22 points!

Civics Coach said it after the game that the Rebels are just a better TEAM, while the Suns are simple a better TIM (note the use of the letter "I" in team).
As for mad plays this weekend, Yobe Mwale nailed 6x3pts in game 1 (vs Tomahawks) and Murere L dunked on Paulus Hamulenge in game 2.
As for Rebels vs Civics (Not the other way around), Eric Norman (Junior) sent Nigel Mubita to the floor with one of those incredible crossovers in game 1, while Brian Hore (Bidza) dunked violently over Carlos Anibal on an Alley-Hoop.
Still on game two, Bidza blocked David Shikongo (Aakiti) on an attempt to dunk, but Junior came to rescue on the payback, blocking Bidza on an attempt to dunk shortly after Aakiti's incident.

The Blues were leading the game in the 1st half, losing it in the 3rd half where they were seriously outscored (18 : 31). In the last quarter, BD da Silva had the chance to riddim himself from the freethows he has been missing that could give his team a victory, bringing the game 2 points close.
Blues' highest scorer was no other than BD da Silva with 41 points (1x3pt), followed by Akser K with 11 (1x3pt) and Martin F with 8 (2x3pt).
Carabinieri's highest scorer was Paulus P, their MJ, with 22 points (2xdnks), followed by S Justice AKA "Hitman" with 16 (3x3pt), while J Shapumba (3x3pt) and Mandume S (1x3pt) had 11 points apiece.
UBC Stormers vs Katutura Titans - 39 : 73
John BRICK was himself, and so was Osvaldo BLUNDER. While Lauro C AKA the scientist must have been on something to dunk like that, and Corbin P impersonated Kobe and opened Titans' score with a dunk.
Stormers' MVP Lauro C had 15 points (2x3pt;1xdnk), followed by Wellingtone A (1x3pt) and K Armstrong with 7 points apiece.
On the "Clear Essence Pretty Boys Katutura Titans" side, Yobe M was the main man with 16 points (2x3pt), followed by Team Captain Corbin P with 14 (1xdnk), while Paulus H (3x3pt) and Ruben I had 13 points apiece.
Tomahawks MBA vs UBC Rebels - 77 : 72
The so long waited game to see what team was going into trainig camp with the Pretty Boys Titans took place at the NDF and the lucky team is the T'hawks.
The UBC Rebels had 6 men only to do the job and they were leading the whole first half. The Hawks played good defence in the last half, where their Center Murere L only 5 points were scored.
The T'Hawks money man was Luis A with 24 points (2x3pt;3xdnks), followed by Ramon M with 14 (2x3pt) and Paulo C with 13 (1xdnk).
Rebels' Mao M hit 20 points, followed by 2004 Season MVP Brian H with 19 (2xdnk) and Isak N 18 (4x3pt). PG Nigel M had 10 points (1x3pt). |
