The Sport of the university had a press conference in the publicity building, which was attended by the general secretary of the university Fouad Maroun and the director of sports department Maroun Khoury, introducing the Beirut Unisports Festival which will be held between the 18th and the 21st of March.
After a welcoming speech, Maroun pointed out that the idea saw the light thanks to the experience of those responsible for the branch of sport and the experience of the players on the other hand, that they gained from their posts earlier, in addition to the excellent results achieved by the University of St. Joseph, culminating in the first place four times in a row in Milan 2006, Barcelona 2007 and Valencia 2008 and 2009, and aims Hosting to encourage cooperation between universities and give players room to get acquainted and show Lebanon in a new, modern and reinforce the status of the University of St. Joseph site.
Khoury explained the organizational matters of the festival, which will include 1500 athlete from 14 countries. Khoury revealed that the idea began in 2008 with a view to engaging with students, and hosting came from the excellent results achieved by the university, and the event was delayed two years because of security conditions.
The event will include 16 contests: football, mini (male and female), football halls (male), basketball (males and females), volleyball (male and female), and volleyball (OUTDOOR), Tennis (male and female), Handball (M), table tennis (male and female), swimming, chess and athletics (male and female), and games culture. Also a big thank to the local associations which cooperated to ensure that referees are arranged for all games. These games will be held on the courts of Jamhour high school and Michel el Murr Stadium in Bouchrieh.
Universities from different countries will attend the event including:Algeria, Bahrain, Syria, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Russia, Kuwait, and the host country Lebanon
The festival will feature concerts daily recreational and cultural activities arranged by the university students.

Ittihad Tanger is with 14-1 record on top after the latest victory over Chabab Rif Al Hoceima 74-62. Maghreb Fez is with 14-2 record beating FUS Rabat 67-65. AS Sale takes the third position with 12-4 record losing to Sport Plazza Casa 56-70 as the latter grabbed the fourth position with 9-7 record. FUS Rabat tied its record at 8-8, while Amal Essaouira improved to 7-8 beating Ithri Rif Nador 76-68.
The next games are planned for March 20th.

AS Sale and Ittihad Tanger won the first Semifinals of the Morocco Basketball Throne Cup 2009/2010. AS Sale overcame Sport Plazza Casa 93:67 with a good start in the game. The hosts produced 26-17 in the first period and added 28-16 in the second. Game 2 is scheduled on March 15th.
Ittihad Tanger rolled over Maghreb Fez 70:63 with 20-16 in the start of the game. The latter however responded with 13-9 in the second period, but Ittihad Tanger was better in the second half [read more]
