Mauritania is preparing for the Zone II basketball tournament of the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa, to be held from 15 to 20 May in the Malian capital, Bamako.
Coaching duo Abdoulaye Ly and Abdoul Ba have pre-selected 20 players for the event, which groups hosts Mali, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania and Senegal.
The winners of the competition will qualify for the African Championship to be held next September in Tripoli, Libya

Mauretanian forward Mamadou 'Papp' Sarr (202-F) signed with Joeuf Homecourt Basket in France (N2) after playing many years in Mauretania and in Morocco (FUS Rabat).
The 38 year old veteran should help Joeuf to solve their frontcourt problems.

The internaional tournament organized by the Mauretanian Basketball Federation gathered teams from Gambia and Senegal and from the hosts Mauretania.
The tournament should prepare the Mauretanian national team for a zonal tournament slated for September in Gambia.
