Here are the schedules for the zonal qualifying tournament in Guinea (Zone 2) for the U-18 African Championships for men and women.
Of the five men's teams expected, four have made the trip, while Guinea Bissau pulled out. At the end of these playoffs, the first of each category will be qualified for the final stages to take place from 2nd until the 10th of October in Tunisia for women and from 16th until 26th of October 2008 in Cairo, Egypt for men.

| Spain, Angola, Mali others know opponent | |

| | | Draw for the men and women basketball event 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will take place Saturday in China.
According to the president of Spanish Basketball Federation, FEB, Jos Luis Sez, will be present at the drawing, which is set to begin at 5:30 local time at the Wukesong Arena in Chinas capital , where the Olympic basketball competition, and a friendly tournament of the womens league to test the facility, will take place.
The national Spanish mens team will find out who their first round Beijing 2008 Olympic tournament rivals are. FIBA and the BOCOG, which stands for the XXIX Olympic Games Organizational Committee, will carry out a drawing at 5:30 p.m. local Chinese time to determine the groups of the mens and womens competitions.
The event will take place at the Wukesong Indoor Stadium of Beijing, where all Olympic basketball games will be played.
Lubomir Kotleva, FIBA athletics director, will carry out the drawing (which can be seen live on fiba.com) and will explain the procedure of how the groups will be made for the Olympic mens tournament to all present.
Its important to keep in mind that between June and July classifying tournaments will award spots to play in the Olympics to the teams that qualify.
There are three spots available for the mens tournament, and five available for the womens tournament. The drawing of the competition groups for the womens games will take place on Sunday, June 15th in Madrid, just as the womens Pre-Olympic tournament comes to a close in Spains capital.
MENS OLYMPIC TOURNAMENT
The mens teams which have already classified for the Olympics in Beijing are: Spain, U.S.A., Russia, Lithuania, Iran, China, Australia, Argentina and Angola.
There are three spots still available to complete the total of twelve teams that will participate in the mens tournament, and they will be decided at the classification tournament held among Brazil, Greece, Lebanon, Cape Verde, Germany, New Zealand, Canada, Koream Solvenia, Cameroon, Croatia, and Puerto Rico in Athens (Greeece), from July 14th-20th.
WOMENS OLYMPIC TOURNAMENT
The womens competition still has five passports to the Olympic Games available. The countries which are already playing are: Australia, China, Korea, Mali, New Zealand, Russia, and the United States.
The Spanish womens national team will have the possibility of winning one of the 5 spots up for grabs at the Pre-Olympic tournament that will be played among Japan, Latvia, Senegal, Anola, Argentina, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Figi, Belarus, Taiwan and Cuba, in Madrid (at the Telefnica Arena, June 9th-15th). |

by Eurobasket News - Apr 14, 2008 | | | Modibo Niakate (185-G-81, college: Cleveland St.) and his Prostejov trimmed the distance to Geofin with a hard-fought 80:70 road win over Pardubice. The hosts piled up a 46:44 advantage at the long intermission however Prostejov raised the tempo after the break and eventually gained a positive outcome. Rashaan Ames topscored for Prostejov with 15 points. Robert Tomaszek and Marton Bader nailed 14 points apiece for the winning side. Levell Sanders stepped up with 24 points for Pardubice.
In one of the best games of Modibo Niakate Prostejov secured their second spot with a 70:66 win over Pardubice. The visitors dominated throughout the major part of the game and Prostejov were close to suffering the 8th loss in the season however they survived. The hosts trailed 30:37 at halftime and 50:56 after three quarters of action. But Pavel Novak, Jaroslav Prasil and Rashaan Ames scored 6 points in a row for Prostejov midway through the final stanza to surge ahead. The teams then traded baskets before Modibo Niakate sealed the winning outcome for Prostejov from charity stripe. Aleksandar Bojic finished with 19 points to pace the hosts. Rashaan Ames added 13 points in a win. Pardubice responded with 18 points from Jiri Novotny.

| | | MBC of Guinea and Stade Malien of Mali will be representing zone 2 in champions cup for man in Angola from Dec13-22,2007.
Guinea Hosted the Qualify Tournement from November 5-10,2007.
They were five teams competing for two spots. Finally the stade Malien team of the talented Wali couibaly and Mbc of sekou conde were dominant force in the tournament.
Cheick Kone of Mali ex pivot of Djoliba of Bamako will be playing in Howard college in Texas. Kone started his American dream last year in cornestore high prep school in San Antonio before joining Howard college as freshman this season.
So far the 6-10 center has been very impressive during this month of november posting a solid number in the board. |

The talented center was waiting for offers in Europe but decided to join on of the best club in northern Africa for the season after spending time in Qatar and previously with ASPTT Alger in the same league.
Now, after Mouloudia bought his rights from ASPTT , he already played a match and was instrumental for his team's win in the frist round of the championship. |

| Special Afrobasket '07: Senegal beat Morocco to 9th place | |

| | | 2005 runner-up of the FIBA Africa Championship for Men, Senegal today in Benguela, Angola defeated Morocco to place 9th in the 16-nations championship which will come to a close on Saturday.
The Senegalese won two out of the four quarters (second - 22-14 and third - 20-17) while drawing its opponent in the first and last quarters - 16-16 and 21-21.
Morocco host in 2001 thus end its campaign in Angola on the 10th spot and will have to qualify from its zone for the 2009 edition billed for Nigeria.
Mali recorded a 78-74 points victory over Rwanda (20-13; 18-17; 21-25 and 19-19) in the placement 11-12 position, South Africa humbled fellow zone-6 member Mozambique by 97-85 points (18-20; 30-17; 16-23 and 33-25) to place 13th. Cleveland Cavaliars Ejike Ugboaja poured in 15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assists and 1 block-shot; Deji Akindele had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assists and 3 block-shots; while guard Jason Bazuaye 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

by Eurobasket News - Aug 20, 2007 | | | Mali National team was not able to fulfill the task of qualifying into the quarterfinal stage at the African Championship in Angola. They posted 1-2 record in Group B action and have to continue their campaign at the classification games for 9th-16th spots. Mali starts against Mozambique tomorrow.
Mali got to a slow start at the tournament and were severly punished by Senegal early on. Mali could not provide any strong opposition for Senegalese squad and were thrashed 70:85 in the first game in the competition. Mali however needed just one day to rebound after a bitter defeat as they proved their ambitions against Egypt. Mali team drove to a sensational 73:66 win in front of 2100 spectators. Mali dominated the first half and built a 37:27 advantage at halftime. Egypt tried to pave their way back into the contest in the second half but never caught up with Mali pace and suffered their first defeat at the tournament. Modibo Niakate (185-G-81, college: Cleveland St.) netted game-high 23 points to lead Mali. Samake Soumaila (214-C-78, agency: CAA Sports) fired 17 points to provide necessary help in a win.
Mali then faced Cote d'Ivoire in a must-win battle for the ticket into the quarterfinal stage. Mali seemed to be en route to the target as they openend the game with a massive 23:8 blow. But Cote d'Ivoire withstood the pressure and gradually recovered. They cut the deficit to 40:46 at the end of the third quarter and stroke back in the fourth frame. Mali struggled from the field at the dying stage and it costed them a win. They suffered a narrow 63:65 loss despite game-high 26 points from Modibo Niakate. Nouha Diakite (207-C-80, college: Louisville) produced 15 points in a losing effort.
