the first two quarters was too close both teams could not build more than a two point lead but in the final seconds of the second quarter Al Ahli Tripoli stole the ball and gave it to Khalid Al Dersi who scored a three point shot at the buzzer to give Al Ahli Tripoli a 5 point lead (28-23).
in the third quarter Al Ittihad took control of the game , cutting down Al Ahli Tripoli lead but it was the forth quarter that saw Al Ittihad crushing Al Ahli Tripoli and building a 15 point lead to end the game (58-43) for them and win their 17th title while Al Ahli Tripoli made it to the final game for the first time since 2001 when they won their last championship against Al Ittihad.

The rules of the libyan basketball federation says if two teams ends the league with the same points in first place , a game between those two teams will be played to determine the league champion.
because Al Ahli Tripoli and Al Ittihad finish the league with 41 points each, the championship game will be played today ( 1/ July /2008 ) on 18:00 o'clock local time ,the game will be in Nelson Mandela Sports Gym. in ZWARA. the federation decided to play the game in Zwara instead of Tripoli due to safety issues.

the first quarter ended 25-20 for ittihad ,as for the second quarter (40-38) and the third (65-59) ended also for Al Ittihad.
In the forth quarter eveything was going good for Al Ittihad and with 2 minutes left , 81-74 for Al Ittihad , a basket and a free throw made by Al Shabab Mauritanian player Babaker Wad and a three point shot by Mohammed Issa made the result 81-80 for Al Ittihad , then a steal by Al Shabab Player Mohammed Doji , a free throw made by the same player tied the result , Al Ittihad lost the position of the ball to Al Shabab before 3 seconds from the ending Mohammed Issa made a three point shot to leave Al Ittihad stunned by Al Shabab's 8 consecutive points comeback that made them win the game and qualify to the first group finals for the third year.
Al Ittihad now have to play against the winner from Ahli T - Al Jazeera game to determine the other finalist while in the second group Ahli B qualified to the final and will wait for the winner from An Naser Riyadh - Al Hilal game.

The game between Ittihad and defending champion Shabab could be called game of the season for both teams. The stake was very high as many experts predict it could be almost championship final game. There were no surprises as it was actually the best game of this season so far. 1st & 2nd quarters were very close and the lead was changed 9 times. Ittihad won that period slightly with two point lead (21-19). In the first minutes of the 2nd quarter Ittihad managed to extend their lead to 7 points. But two three-point shots of Shabab's Mohammed Issa and Eslam El Karbal (-83) reduced the point difference for Shabab and the 2nd quarter ended again with just two points lead 38-36 for Ittihad. The 3rd quarter was a perfect start for Shabab having 16-5 run in just four minutes. But Ittihad did not give up and after making some adjustments to the game, they scored 9 consecutive points, tieing the game 58-58. Free throw made by Mohammed Issa and another two points by Sohaib Ftaita ended the 3rd quarter with Shahab's three point lead 61-58. But it was 4th quarter, which decided the whole game. Ittihad speed up and took back control of the game. Shabab managed to score just nine points in the entire quarter, while four points in the last minute. At the other side Ittihad scored 21 points to secure the win and confirm the top spot in the league.
