It has been long coming since 2008, when the basketball court was finally constructed by the NLA. The youth of the community have been denied access to playing basketball games on the court.
It took the efforts of some concerned youth of the Municipality to approach Rite Multimedia, organizers of Sprite basketball among second cycle institutions to rescue the youth of Adentan.
The management and maintenance of the basketball has been given to Rite Multimedia, to ensure a long lifespan for the court.
Speaking at the recent handing over ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Nubly Kraka Vanlur has observed that the youth should avoid negative social vices and rather channel their youthful energy into sporting activities, such as basketball.
On the part of Managing Director of National Sport Authority, Mr. Wolanyo Agra, he pleaded with the corporate bodies within the community to aid in the growth of basketball as a sport in the community.

It all happened at the University of Ghana, Legon basketball courts. The following regions were represented by basketball team: The Greater Accra region, Ashanti region, Western region, Central region, Upper East region, Volta region and Northern region. The services were not left out and they were also represented by the following teams: Police team, Fire service team, Prisons team, Armed Forces and the CEPS team. All the teams were keen on winning the much coveted gold medal and brought their best to represent them. But from the first jump ball, Greater Accra and CEPS showed signs of taking medals with these teams scoring all the teams they met. Volta region also displayed some beautiful talent but it was not enough to help them qualify for the quarter final round. Upper East and the Ashanti region lost all their games and were the first to go out. The next to follow were Central region, Western region, Northern and Volta region and the Fire service. It was no surprise that the service teams excelled because they are well established teams with the CEPS teams winning the Greater Accra Basketball league many times so there was no way the regions who came together only for the Unity games were going to win - but Greater Accra proved that wrong. The final game was supposed to be between Greater Accra and CEPS because CEPS scored the Police team in the quarter final round and Greater Accra region scored the Prisons service. But a protest was raised by the Police team against the CEPS team hence they were disqualified so the Police team qualified to the final round. The third place match was also never played so Prisons were automatically bronze medallists. It was a fiercely contested title with the Greater Accra region emerging as winners of the Gold medal, the Police service the Silver medallists and the Bronze medal was taken by the Prisons service. In all, the games were successful after all the minor problems and we would like to congratulate the government of Ghana and hope they organise more of such events to discover talents for the nation and advance basketball in the country.
