Hoops and Police clash in Thursdays third and fourth place match in the ongoing Thome Cabalan Championship. Both sides lost their respective ties against CEPS and Tema Youth respectively and will be looking forward to clinch the bronze prize to placate their suffering fans. Hoops beat their counterpart in the series but judging from the results in the championship, it will be unwise to stick ones neck out and predict Thursday scoreline. For a side like Hoops, victory would mean a lot to ever-smiling manager Claudius Thompson who is building a strong side to challenge for honours next season. His rebuilding exercise is well on course and the teams recent trip to Ghanas neighbouring Togo bears ample testimony of the sides readiness to give all out next season. The 2010 Thome Cabalan Championship is gradually coming to an end after some stellar display from the various teams and Thursday mach should capped an incredible run for both teams.

The Greater accra basketball league-final week - Jul 24, 2010 (by Charis BX)
The league ended with CEPS as champion - again making it their 10th league cup in a row. Their last game took place on the Prisons court, Cantonments. They won their 10th straight GABL title after once again keeping a 100% record throughout the season. They beat C.Y.O in what seemed to be a too easy game for them on Wednesday. The game so interesting with C.E.P.S' center and the tallest player in the league, Richard Darko at 6'10' knocking down a trey in the third quarter

The game so interesting with C.E.P.S' center and the tallest player in the league, Richard Darko at 6'10' knocking down a trey in the third quarter. the question now is who is going to beat the CEPS team? Would they retain their title next season or a team would finally beat them? The teams that went to relegation are Panthers, Yotive and Tema Youth who came to court late therefore giving 2 points to their opponents the Hoops. the final results were
1. CEPS 2. HOOPS 3. WARRIORS 4. REFORMERS 5. POLICE 6. MAGIC 7. HOLY FAMILY 8. FIRE SERVICE 9. C.Y.O 10. LIONS 11. TURBO JETS 12. TEMA YOUTH* 13. PANTHERS* 14. YOTIVE*

Nine-time champions CEPS and Hoops are among the top sides in action this weekend in the Greater Accra basketball series. Custom Excise and Preventive Services (CEPS) remain the only side yet to lose grounds after eleven rounds of matches and looks set to keep their record intact with a game against Fire on Saturday. Coach Braimah Lawahs side has been peerless in the current campaign and looks the likely candidate to clinch their 10th consecutive title. They face a side which has dropped their guard seven times in the season and have managed to record four wins. It should be business as usual for second placed team Hoops who battle basement boys Yotive in the second game on Saturday. The only side in the league which resides outside the Greater Accra region are the overwhelming favourite in this encounter judging from their fine form in the series so far. Yotive lie at a parlous 13th position on the league table and are involved in the relegation dog fight with Turbo Jets and Lions. They have recorded a single win from 11 outings and Hoops looks set to add them to their list of victims. Yotive have struggled for consistency while the key to Hoops success so far has been their physical power and controlled aggressivity. The first game on Saturday will see Holy Family battle CYO at the Lebanon House in Tudu. There is little to choose between the two sides because both have suffered seven defeats and recorded four in their last eleven games and so should make up for an exciting one on Saturday afternoon. But before Saturday showdown at the Lebanon House, the Prisons Court will play host to two exciting games on Friday afternoon. Tudu based Magic take on Reformers in the first game while Panthers and the Police Service square off in the final game at 4pm local time.
