Outlook:
Lightning quick point guard with great court vision and playmaking ability. Also a scorer who has range beyond the NBA 3 point line. His quickness and intensity makes for a great defender, which allows him to get a lot of steals. Can also put up some big numbers from the point or from the shooting guard.

The start of my journey to Egypt- Apr.14, 2010 (by Ivan)
Its around 3 am here and as usual I'm on the net chatting with friends, reading the news and last but not least trying to figure out what I'm going to talk about with my second post. Nevertheless, I have decided to give you a brief intro of how my journey started.

Its around 3 am here and as usual I'm on the net chatting with friends, reading the news and last but not least trying to figure out what I'm going to talk about with my second post. Nevertheless, I have decided to give you a brief intro of how my journey started. I got a call from my agent June 27, expressing the teams interest in me. Next thing I know, there's a flight booked for July 1st to Egypt. At the time I had just moved in a apartment for the summer, bought furniture and a new car. But this was a opportunity that couldn't turn down. So I jumped on the flight, leaving my parents to drive from 2hrs away to take care of my issues left behind. Luckily I have the best parents a person could possibly ask for, they took care of everything.
Soon after I arrived, I spent a lot of time in the streets walking around the city taking it all in, still in shock that I'm actually in AFRICA (yes folks Egypt is in Africa). Excited to be visiting this part of the world, a place with so much history. I wanted to see everything right away. But yeah, that died down real quick. After all I planned to be here for 10 months, why rush? But honestly I think the sun got the best of me. Every time I looked outside I started sweating. I believe July is one of if not the hottest months of the year around these parts. It had to top 150 degrees Fahrenheit at least 5 times (lol joking). After sweating away about 3 or 4 pounds, I came to the conclusion that it was a battle I just couldn't win. I stayed in most days until 6 or 7pm from then on. With that being said, I love it here. I prefer the heat any day over cold weather. Year round warm weather is great!!!
The first couple weeks I lived in a hotel/motel. I cant say that it was the best but I managed. The food was ok though. I'm a picky eater so I stuck to my usual fruit, baked chicken and rice. Cant go wrong with that. However the sheets and covers in my room seemed to be from the late 80's. Basically every time I stepped foot in my room I started screaming (not literally but you know what I mean). Coming here with a open mind, hoping for the best, I rolled with the punches. Until one night laying in bed, I saw Mr. GEICO (a lizard)himself crawling above me on the ceiling. I'm not scared of much... well maybe bungy jumping, unknown pit bulls and yeah, bushwick bill... but that was the last straw. I got on the horn (telephone/mobile) ASAP and started making calls to get out of there. I know it was about 4am but, I didn't expect to have a roommate. I guess he needed a short break from the heat too. As expected no one answered and I ended up packing my bags and chilling in the lobby all night until I reached someone. The next morning my agent picked me up, took me to a hotel which was a lot better. I stayed at this hotel for about 2 weeks and then finally moved into my apartment.
My living situation is very good now. My place is great and I have very nice neighbors. I'm living in a huge 2 bedroom, but most importantly I have internet and satellite. I have a sling box plus I pick up quite a few english channels on the satellite, showing everything from top movies from the states to NBA and Euro league games. So its very easy to keep up with the everything from the US, making me feel right at home. When I first moved in my neighbors immediately introduced themselves and told me if I needed anything just ask. It was a pleasure to know that I had such friendly neighbors. It made my transition a little easier. The old lady next door even cooked a meal for me. Which was a Egyptian dish called Koshary. It was pretty good. Well that's its for this time folks. Next time I will talk more about my preseason training camp and the start of the season. Take care

First I would like to thank the euro basket staff for giving this opportunity to share my insight and experiences that Ive encountered playing abroad. It has been an eye opening experience living and playing here in Egypt, one that I will cherish for a life time. Being in a position to travel the world, indulge in other cultures, as well as play the game I love is something that I would never take for granted. This is something most can only dream of. I came to Egypt with an open mind and a huge appetite for the game of basketball. Not really knowing what to expect from this side of the world, everything has turned out for the best, and Im enjoying my time spent on and off the court. Im currently playing for the Al Zamalek Sporting Club located in Cairo, Egypt. Overall this has been a good season so far for the team. Coming into the season with a new coach and roster, with exception of 3 players, I think we have done an exceptional job of meshing as a team. Most thought we would be fighting to stay in the league. By overcoming many obstacles through hard work and determination we managed to finish 3rd in the regular season with a 16-6 record. By no means am I satisfied with a 3rd place finish, but I am proud of how this team fought every second of every game. Currently we are playing in the Super League Championship phase of the season, with 10 games down and 10 more to go (still in 3rd place). This is probably the most trying time of the year for us, especially because of the injuries that we have had to endure. Im currently out for the remainder of the season, because of a meniscus tear suffered in a game 3 weeks ago. Recovery takes about 6 weeks but unfortunately the season will be over by then. I will not be on the battle field with my comrades, but now on the sideline as their biggest fan. Over the course of the last 3 games, the team has managed to go 2-1 with me sidelined, and I couldnt be any prouder of how this young team has responded in times of adversity.
