| | | In a couple of upsets, Sporting and Shorta defeated Ahly and Ittihad, respectively. Sporting beat Ahly 76-70, and Shorta edged Ittihad 74-71
Ahly Club el Ahly had problems against Sporting, as they had to play without Tarek el ghanam. Ahly had recently beaten Sporting on their court in Alexandria.
This is the first time in Egyptain Cup competetion that the two top teams have been knocked out before the semi finals.
Many had predicted Ahly, Gezira, Ittihad, and Zamalek to make up the semifinals (as has often been the case in the past), but this year it's different.
I expect a very exciting games and results in this year's finals. |

| | | Egyptian cup games will be continued tonight. Ahly will take on Sporting, Gezira will battle Eastern company, Zamalek plays EL Giesh army, and Shorta polise will tangle with Itthad. All games start at 6 pm. The big teams should have little trouble reaching the semi finals. The only game that should be close will likely be Ahly vs. Sporting, which will be held in Cairo. This game is the last chance for Sporting to do something this season after the bad performance in the first round of the Super Six League last week. Ahly should have some confidence after beating Sporting in Alex last week, which they will need to reach the semis. |

| Gezira beats Sporting in the last second 72-71 | |

| | | Sporting squandered a late lead against Gezira in Alex. last night. Sporting controlled the game most of the way and held a 10-point lead with just 4 minutes remaining. Every one was already celebrating Sporting's win, but suddenly Gezira players made a fast come back, aided by Danny Johnson (190-G-76, agency: Elfus-Siegel Management (ESM), college: Charleston) who nailed 2 three-point shots in the last 2 minutes. With only 19 seconds to go, Sporting lead 71-69. Dramatically, Sherif Guinedy made his last drive with only 1 second left, hitting the shot and getting fouled. He knocked down the free throw, giving his team a hard-fought win, 72-71. The referees almost spoiled the game making many questionable calls, which angered coaches from both teams. |
