 | Nurumbi rocks the Grand Canyon | |
|
| | | Engen Nurumbi (201-C-83, college: Minnesota) is finally back on the basketball-court after not playing in college hoops for nearly two years. The 25-year old Congolese power forward returned to Arizona after experiencing a rough time in Minnesota where the coach who recruited him was sacked prior to the start of the season.
He got almost no playing time after being a star in the junior-college ranks and decided to transfer back to the desert state to join Grand Canyon in the NCAA II. Now in his senior-year with the 'Lopes', the former-national team player leads the team in scoring (15.4), rebounding (7.3),minutes (31.8) and blocked shots (13).
In a recent win over W.New Mexico, Nurumbi recorded 22 points and 17 rebounds while blocking three shots. The forward could be looking into the pro-ranks next year, if he continues to put numbers up like that, but as good student, he might pursue also other options, so who knows what the future will bring for the talented Congolese... |
