Algeria got to a better start as the home crowd cheered them up. They outscored Kenya 18:13 in the opening frame and continued to dominate in the second. The gap grew to 32:26 at halftime and it seemed that Algeria where en route to clinch the 5th place at the tournament. However Kenya emerged strong in the second half and thrashed Algerian defence. Kenya basketballers produced 29 points in the third quarter to surge ahead and never looked back on the way to the win. Kenya had 5 players scoring in double digits. Josephine Owino (184-C-83) had 18 points and 14 rebounds to pace the team. H Indasi added 14 points for the winners. Kenza Gheroumi chipped in game-high 23 points for Algeria. Rachida Belaidi (-79) poured in 15 points in defeat. Kenya outreabounded the home side 48:30. They also limited Algeria to just 37% of field goals hitting 53% themselves.

Algeria enjoyed another victory at All-Africa Games. They routed Tunisia 66:56 in classification round for the 5th-8th spots. Algeria took to a better start as they led 18:13 after the opening frame. Tunisia gradually found the right rhythm and bounced back with a strong second quarter to cut the deficit to 26:29 at halftime.

Algeria took to a better start as they led 18:13 after the opening frame. Tunisia gradually found the right rhythm and bounced back with a strong second quarter to cut the deficit to 26:29 at halftime. The things got much better for Tunisia in the third quarter when they managed to establish a 43:42 advantage. But the home side cheered up by the local fans delivered in the final stanza. They smashed Tunisia defence and rushed to a winning result. Wahiba Aissani (170-F-79) scored 23 points to pace hosts. Kenza Gheroumi added another 10 points for the winners. Fatma Barkallah netted 16 points for Tunisia. Maha Chelly (-82) ensured another 13 points in losing clause. Algeria had an edge under the rims as they outrebounded Tunisia 37:34. They also shot 43% from the field, but were inconsistant from free throw line converting just 52%. Algeria will now fight for the 5th spot tomorrow.

Algeria were not able to beat the forecasts and overcome one of the main basketball forces in Africa Senegal in the quarterfinal battle yesterday. Senegal dominated the game and deservedly won the fixture advancing to the semifinal.

Algeria - Senegal 49:75 Algeria were not able to beat the forecasts and overcome one of the main basketball forces in Africa Senegal in the quarterfinal battle yesterday. Senegal dominated the game and deservedly won the fixture advancing to the semifinal. Senegalese team gave no chance for the home side winning all four quarters of the encounter and demonstrating a spectacular piece of basketball. They got to a better start and led 13:7 after the opening frame. Algeria posted a stronger second quarter but still trailed by 7 points at halftime 19:26. Senegalese players emerged from the third quarter winning already 46:32. Algeria simply surrendered at the final stanza allowing Senegal to drop 29 points. Senegal celebrated a confident win and advanced into the semifinal. Astou Traore (182-F/C-81) delivered 18 points and 6 rebounds for Senegal. Awa Doumbia (182-F-79) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Kenza Gheroumi replied with 11 points for Algeria. Aicha Bouderra chipped in 9 points in defeat. Algeria lost the fight under the rims 29:43. They also shot just 31% from the field, including 48% from free throw line. Senegal converted massive 50% from beyond the arc.
